The Iowa Lakes Corridor region covers 1920 square miles and has a population density of 33.4 per mile. According to the US Census Bureau, the total population of the region in 2005 was estimated to be 64,974. From 1990 to 2000 the region grew by 1,206 people to 65,234, an increase of 1.88%. The first half of this decade shows the region may be experiencing a slight decline overall. However, three of the four counties have lost population while Dickinson County posted an estimated 1.6% increase between 2000 and 2005.
