RELAY INFORMATION

Welcome to the first-ever Live, Work, Play Here Relay!

The Live, Work, Play Here Relay is a grass-roots campaign that involves community members in the counties of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet. The goal of the campaign is to bring 400 new families into the four-county area by the year 2009.

As residents of the area, we know this is a rich, vibrant place to live. We have first-class outdoor oportunities, world-class schools, exceptional healthcare, a thriving arts and culture scene and a diverse mix of businesses in a small-town atmosphere crossed with big-city amenities. By informing those who live outside the Corridor about the lifestyle we live here, we are confident we can reach the goal of attracting 400 new families to the area. However, we at the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation need your help. Here's why:

FACT: Our population is not growing in most of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Region, consisting of Buena vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet Counties.

FACT: School enrollments in all four counties of the region are not increasing.

FACT:
Projections for Iowa as a whole found manufacturers will need 90,000 workers in the
next 8 years.

FACT: Research recently compiled by Iowa State University of people moving to or from rural
areas indicates the primary factors are to be closer to family and for job opportunities.

Corridor residents can use these facts and begin a grass-roots effort to reverse these trends. Here's how to help:

  • Make a pledge. Click here to download a pledge form or complete our online pledge form. Filling out a pledge form enters you in a monthly drawing for $100 in cash or prizes!
  • Be an advocate of the area. Speak positively about the Corridor region whenever you get the chance or tell someone about career, job and business ownership opportunities.
  • Get others involved. Tell your friends and family and motivate them to join the effort.
