Qualifications:
Requires a two year Associates Degree in business administration or similar field, or equivalent experience and five years of supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment. Proficient understanding of Manufacturing Resource Planning system and the interrelationship with primary users. Must be able to obtain OSHA required Forklift Certification within 1 week of hire.
Responsibilities:
• Routes all company trucks to assure methods are achievable and realistic considering DOT hours of service regulations and customer delivery expectations. • Perform and/or assure proper documentation and data entry of all outbound shipments of products. • Analyze truckload, LTL and small packages to determine the most efficient method of shipment. • Assist the Manufacturing Manager and the Lean Manager in coordinating the movement and delivery of product, material handling equipment and necessary personnel to maximize efficiencies and achieve on time production. • Establish and maintain successful relationships with freight carriers to ensure MWI is shipping at competitive rates while achieving expected levels of service. • Maintain open communication with contract trucking company and drivers • Schedule flatbed shipments as needed • Complete NAFTA Certificate of Origins form, determine Rules of Origin for the merchandise and attach completed documentation to assure timely delivery of product for Canadian customers. • Effectively communicate necessary information through all levels of the organization to ensure customer expectations are met and issues are communicated • Participates in Staff Meetings and strategic planning sessions to assist the company in reaching short and long term goals. • Schedule and arrange all equipment maintenance and yearly licensing and DOT inspection of company trailers. • With assistance from the Shipping Team Lead, responsible for allocating and managing associates according to changing needs. • Perform annual reviews of all shipping and receiving personnel • Develop innovative solutions that drive efficiency improvements for transportation and logistics operations. • Keep Staff appraised of and manage security issues for department operations, including, but not limited to, inventory control and loss prevention during transportation. • Develop and maintain metrics and reporting for key performance indicators.
