Weigand-Omega Management Director of Sales King’s Pointe WaterPark Resort Storm Lake, IA Summary and Purpose The Director of Sales networks with potential clients, manages large accounts, works to maintain a loyal customer base, and oversees hotel sales and marketing strategies. Education and Experience Requirements Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing or Finance preferred. Two years’ experience in sales and marketing preferred, preferably in the hospitality industry. Other Qualification Requirements 1. Valid state driver’s license 3. Dependable transportation. 4. A telephone where you can be reached. Essential Duties: Analyzes current client base or target market for the hotel. Devises new ways to expand that client base. Develops promotional and advertising materials for the hotel. Oversees distribution of marketing materials. Reaches out to organizations and businesses that might require a hotel for conferences and events. Meets with representatives from these companies to explain the hotel’s merits and amenities. Networks with wedding planners and special event planners to encourage hotel bookings. Designs and advertises special group rates and packages to increase larger bookings. Works with General Manager to develop strategic marketing plan along with the sales department operating budget Assists General Manager with top line numbers for the annual operating budget Manages accounts of high-profile clients. Processes payments and applies discounts as necessary. Addresses and resolves any issues or complaints regarding sales or marketing. Ensures that guests are enjoying their stay at the hotel and that large group needs are met. Maintains positive relationships with clients to encourage repeat and recurring business. Performance Expectations and Standards The employee shall perform his/her duties using standard levels of productivity and dependability, ensuring completion in a timely and zero-defect manner. He/she must portray a clean, neat, well-groomed professional appearance. Job requires company-approved attire with identification badge in sight. Must be honest, trustworthy, enthusiastic, and team/project oriented. This position has no authority that is not specifically delegated from the Supervisors. He/she must be customer service oriented and genuinely support and promote good guest/staff relations and service. The employee must have the ability to work independently, a willingness to learn, and good communication skills and be willing to participate fully in staff meetings and designated training programs. Physical/Mental Requirements The position requires the following physical and mental capabilities to be performed: Constantly (66% to 100% of the time) Being on foot, bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, climbing stairs and ladders, pushing or pulling, reaching above shoulder height, grasping, gripping, turning, lifting and carrying 1-25 lb. items, performing general and detail observation, working at above ground height, using finger dexterity, properly operating equipment or tools, following instructions, reading and/or comprehending manufacturer's and product label directions, interpreting a variety of written and/or oral instructions, communicating effectively with other staff members, working indoors, and using adequate vision and mobility. Frequently (33% to 66% of the time) Writing to complete reports and service requests, working outdoors in all conditions, observing things clearly beyond an arm's reach, lifting and carrying of items weighing 25-75lbs., and driving vehicles. Occasionally (1% to 33% of the time) Lifting and carrying (with assistance) items weighing 75-150 lbs. Regular attendance is mandatory and must follow all work safety programs. Work schedules, hours and days may vary according to business needs. Some overtime may be required.
