While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to talk or hear. The employee is constantly required to use hands and fingers to feel, handle or operate objects, tools, or controls; and read with hands and arms. The employee is occasionally required to climb, balance, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, and walk. The position requires frequent lifting, carrying, pushing and pulling objects that are 50 pounds or heavier. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus. Work Environment: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently exposed to fumes or airborne particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. The noise level in the work environment can be loud, hearing protection is require in all areas of the plant 100% of the time. This position requires working outside frequently. The employee is occasionally exposed to wet, frigid, and/or humid conditions.
Position Summary The Warehouse Associate/Truck Driver will operate various powered and hand-operated industrial equipment to move materials around the plant and warehouses; as well as handle the loading of finished goods for shipment. This individual will ensure accurate storage, movement, and entry into the QAD computer system of all items within the facility and in the finished goods storage areas. The Warehouse Associate/Truck Driver will provide various production cells with items needed in a timely manner in accordance with work orders and supervisor needs. In addition, this individual will be responsible for hauling freight over-the-road via semi-truck with trailer, as needed. This is a full-time position. Production days and hours of work are Monday through Friday, 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Driving hours vary based on company needs. Essential Duties & Responsibilities: -Load and unload pallets and other items with forklift throughout the plant -Pick parts for sales orders before loading and shipment -Transfer equipment and materials between yard areas and trucks to ship -Load trucks as needed for whole goods shipment -Efficiently stack and store items in Stores and plant areas -Participate in physical inventory counting and inventory auditing process as needed -Operate tire machine to mount rims and tires as needed -Check semi-truck and trailer to ensure that mechanical, safety, and emergency equipment is in good working order -Follow appropriate safety procedures for transporting products -Report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles -Maintain logs of working hours and of vehicle service or repair status, following applicable state and federal regulations -Secure cargo for transport using ropes, blocks, chain, binders, or covers -Inspect loads to ensure that cargo is secure -Maneuver trucks into loading or unloading positions, following signals from loading crew and checking that vehicle and loading equipment are properly positioned -Obtain receipts or signatures for delivered goods and collect payment for services when required -Drive trucks with capacities greater than 3 tons, including tractor-trailer combinations, to transport and deliver products -Check all load-related documentation for completeness and accuracy -Load and unload equipment -Keep inventory and track the location of machines, equipment, and tools -Operate equipment safely and efficiently - equipment to include (but not limited to) stand up forklift, sit down forklift, pallet jacks, heavy-duty "outside" lifts, and semi-truck with trailer -Report safety issues related to equipment or work environment to supervisor or Human Resources, and adhere to OSHA and Company safety standards -Maintain a neat and orderly work environment -Over-the-road travel, as needed Note: This job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job.
