SPENCER— The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is proud to announce that Libby Glaser, Communications and Events Coordinator, has been elected to the executive board of Young Professionals of Iowa. Glaser is the first board member elected from the Corridor region.

“I’m very excited and honored to have been elected to the Young Professionals of Iowa board,” said Glaser. “I look forward to learning more about young professional groups around the state of Iowa and I’m excited to bring new practices back to the Corridor region to serve our local young professionals as well.”

Glaser, 22, moved to the Corridor area in May after graduating from the University of Iowa. Glaser is a member of the Corridor Young Professional group and has helped in planning their events and recruiting new members within the Corridor region.

“We are proud to have Libby represent the Lakes region on the board of Young Professionals of Iowa,” said Kiley Miller, Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation President & CEO. “The 21st century economy is a talent economy and it is imperative that our region and state think creatively to recruit and retain skilled and enthusiastic Millenials if we are to continue to grow.”

“There is a need for more professional organizations for young people, especially in our rural communities,” said Glaser. “The needs of young professionals in rural communities are different from those in urban settings; I’m excited to serve those individuals specifically and connect young professionals from many different industries.”

Young Professionals of Iowa, also known as YPIowa, connects young professional organizations and individuals through a statewide network and also engages individuals with opportunities within their communities. The organization’s mission is to help young professional organizations in Iowa take responsibility for the growth of their communities to ensure the long term advancement of the state of Iowa. Currently, YPIowa serves over 54 young professional groups statewide.

“We are very excited at the opportunity to work closely with the Iowa Lakes Corridor region by electing Libby Glaser of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation to our Young Professionals of Iowa Board,” said Jonalee Jackes, President-Elect of Young Professionals of Iowa.  “The Board is made up of diverse young professionals from across the state of Iowa that want to make a difference within their communities and the state.”
