A heavy equipment simulator designed to give people a taste of what it's like to operate large construction machinery is coming to the IowaWORKS building in Spencer.

The simulator will be at the IowaWORKS building, 217 W. Fifth St. in Spencer, from July 19-22, according to the Spencer Daily Reporter.

The "video game on steroids," as its described in the Daily Reporter's article, is designed to not only let people have fun operating virtual heavy equipment, but also to pique their interest in acquiring the skills needed to operate the equipment in real life.

Employers in the construction industry are always looking for people skilled in operating heavy machinery, IowaWORKS business and marketing specialist Bob Becker told the Daily Reporter.
