Workforce
Assuring employers have access to an adequate and well-trained workforce, with an emphasis on worker attraction/retention, worker training/new skills, career education, and adequate funding.
Goal: Attract and retain workers
Performance measurements:
Number of new movers to area each year; changes in demographics/economics of new movers.
Goal: Satisfy employers and demand for worker training by identifying, coordinating, and creating new training partners, programs, and resources
Performance Measurements:
- Worker shortages in specific demand areas decreased
- Number of individuals retrained
- Reduction in turnover rates
- Dollars invested in workforce training/retraining
- Sales increases
- Cost savings
- Jobs created
- Investment in plant and equipment by area employers
Goal: Assure access to employer-driven career information and training by working with secondary school boards, administrators, and staff
Performance Measurements:

Goal: Create a workforce development fund and leverage eother resources to supplement employer efforts in raising the education or skill level of the existing workforce and of new workers in the community

- Additional training funds raised, leveraged, and/or pooledfor training/retraining plan
Housing/Infrastructure
Providing an infrastructure conducive to business development, with an emphasis on housing, transportation communications, and volunteer/leader development.
Goal: Develop strategic partnerships to increase needed housing stock
Performance Measurements:
- Funds committed
- New housing starts
- Number of new rental units added
Goal: Work with the public sector on the local, state, and federal level to assure decision makers are aware of critical transportation and communications infrastructure needing public investment
Performance Measurements:
- Federal and state funds awarded to key infrastructure projects
- Number of projects completed or actions taken
Goal: Strengthen and develop discussion forums and networking opportunities that reach across the four county area to share best practices, strengthen business-to-business interaction and sales, and workforce, entrepreneurial, and business/job growth goals

Business Development
Create an environment for business development and job growth by emphasizing existing and high value business, communication, issue action, and marketing.
Goal: Grow existing four county businesses by addressing issues impeding growth
Performance Measurements:
- Number of firms visited by existing industry call program
- Number of existing businesses retained or growing with Corridor assistance
- Number of new jobs from existing and new businesses
Goal: Attract high-value employers and industry to the four county region
Performance Measurements:
- Number of new businesses recruited to the area
- Number of new jobs from new businesses
- Amount of new investment
- Square feet built/occupied
- Acres sold
Entrepreneurship
Enhancing entrepreneurial activity and new business starts by emphasizing youth/next generation entrepreneurs, mentoring, networking and learning, coaching, counseling, market research and data, and access to capital.
Goal: Continue and enhance youth/next generation entrepreneurial training and recruitment
Performance Measurements:
- Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute participation
- Number of schools and students participating
Goal: Build on existing coaching and counseling services for entrepreneurs
