The Iowa Lakes Corridor, organized in 1992 to foster, encourage, promote, assist or otherwise aid economic growth and development in the four-county region of Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet. Successes and results have been substantial over the past several years. The collaboration of our counties just in the past eight years has resulted in:
- Over 1400 new jobs
- Over 825 jobs retained
- 17 new companies
- 28 existing company expansions
- Existing industry calls made each year - 25 interviews completed in 2007
- 9 spec buildings constructed; 6 sold
- Partnerships with 20 financial institutions, 5 utilities, 9 communities, 4 counties, and many local, state and federal agencies and organizations
- Regional events - Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute; Corridor Art Trail
The latest Iowa Lakes Corridor success stories are the addition of Chebe Bread of Spirit Lake, Northern Bio Energy LLC in Estherville, a new branch location of Heartland Communications Group in Spencer, a start-up manufacturer in Spencer - Terramech, and the expansion of a start-up company in Spirit Lake - Credeman Solutions.
