Overview

The Iowa Lakes Corridor has a diverse collection of business and industry. In addition to a strong farm employment, the Corridor region is dominated by three sectors – manufacturing, retail trade and health services.

Existing business and industry are the lifeblood of our regional economy. We thank them for their investment and the employment opportunities provided to area citizens. Most new jobs and investment come from existing business and industry and that is certainly the case in the Iowa Lakes Corridor.  Each year an existing business and industry call program is conducted by the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation staff and volunteers. These visits provide an opportunity for business and industry to rate the area and to help identify opportunities and red flags for communities in the region.  A CEO Peer Council of existing company CEO’s is in place to further our focus on existing employers.

The top employers in the region include:  Tyson Meats, The Hillshire Brands, Polaris Industries, Pure Fishing, Eaton Corporaton, Rosenboom Machine & Tool, Spencer Municipal Hospital, Buena Vista Regional Medical Center, Wal-Mart Stores, Hy-Vee stores, and Lakes Regional Healtcare.
