Education & Training
The Iowa Lakes Corridor is continually seeking excellent training opportunities for existing and potential entrepreneurs in the Iowa Lakes region.  The Iowa Lakes Corridor has partnered with several institutions to provide this component of our economic gardening initiative.

The Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute was first held in 2006 and provided a week-long business simulation and class-room training to 24 Iowa Regent's University students, along with the opportunity to meet several successful Iowa entrepreneurs and experience the Iowa Great Lakes region.

Entrepreneurship Academy
Students in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet County schools who have completed 7th- 9th grades have the opportunity to learn about invention, business and entrepreneurship during the Iowa Lakes Corridor Entrepreneurship AcademyThis one-week day camp will be held August 4 - 8, 2008 at the new Middle School in Spencer.

Click on the Entrepreneurship Academy Application to download the form. Please fax the applicationback to the Iowa Lakes Corridor office at 712.580.3472. Please contact Holly Pearson for more information at 712.264.3474.

Entrepreneurship Week
During national Entrepreneurship Week (Feb. 24 - March 3, 2007), the Iowa Lakes Corridor, Aquila, and Iowa Lakes Community College sponsored a food entrepreneur seminar - From Recipe to Reality.  Approximately 20 individuals from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota attended this day-long intensive training session to learn the ins and outs of starting and operating a food manufacturing business.  Representatives of the Corridor and the business community also participated in an entrepreneurial symposium at the University of Northern Iowa on February 28th.   A mentoring session was also held with student entrepreneurs on the UNI campus and with the eight UNI students who participated in the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute in August 2006.

More entrepreneurial training opportunities, classroom and individual, are being pursued.  Contact us at the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation if you have questions or recommendations.
