Workforce & Labor Statistics
The Iowa Lakes Corridor region is home to a very dynamic and diverse collection of industries, skills, abilities and work experiences. Data recently collected by Iowa Workforce Development (IWD) or residents reveal the following about the region's workforce:
  • 82% employed
    • 25.3% willing to change employment for the right opportunity
    • 5.9% underemployed
  • 4.7% unemployed
    • 55.8% willing/able to re-enter the workforce
  • 6.5% homemakers
    • 37.5 % willing to re-enter the workforce
  • 6.8% retired
    • 26% willing to re-enter the workforce

More than two-thirds of the residents have some education/training beyond high school; 16.8% have an associate degree; 3.6% have completed vocational training; 5.5% are trade certified; 27.1 % have an undergraduate degree; and 7.9% have a postgraduate/professional degree. Commuting data indicates those residents willing to change or accept new employment in the region are willing to commute an average of 22 miles one way.
