The Iowa Lakes Corridor Region was recently featured in the Winter 2022 edition of Fresh Pickings Magazine. The article highlights area businesses including Cherry Lane Farm and Ruthven Meat Processing, as well as activities, museums, and restaurants in the region for readers to explore.
The article describes the Corridor region as “…a quintessential reflection of the masterful way Iowans balance ingenuity and quality of life with rural roots and big-city amenities.” It also shares the stories of Calvin and Krissy Thiessen who began Cherry Lane Farm in 2016 and Chris and Suzie Kraft of Ruthven Meat Processing.
“It’s wonderful to see the Iowa Lakes Corridor Region and its entrepreneurs promoted through this Fresh Pickings publication,” said Alyssa Petersen, Coordinator of Administration & Communication at the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor). “There are so many opportunities in our region for business and recreation alike, and this article captures just a few of these amenities and encourages readers to learn more and explore what this beautiful area has to offer.”
Fresh Pickings magazine is published by the Iowa Food & Family Project. Its purpose is to inspire readers to explore how their food is grown and raised across the state and meet the farmers who make it happen. It is a quarterly publication that distributes free print copies through Iowa-based Earl May Nursery & Garden Centers, Iowa Food & Family Project events, or through a mailed subscription.
