Dream Big Grow Here competition kicked-off September 8

SPENCER— The third annual Dream Big Grow Here (DBGH) competition kicked-off at this year’s Clay County Fair. Entrepreneurs and business owners are invited to submit their business dreams to wwww.DreamBigGrowHere.comstarting Sunday, September 8. The regional winner will receive $5,000 from the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation.

Submissions can be made in the form of video, text, pictures, or a combination of the three. Each entry should explain the business, its goals and why the contestant deserves to win. The contest will began September 8 and runs through October 20. From October 21-November 4, voters are asked to visit www.DreamBigGrowHere.comin order to review the businesses and vote for who they believe is worthy of the award.

The top five vote-getters will then compete against one another in a pitch-off on November 19 to a panel of judges. The winner will receive $5,000 and will go on to compete at the state level with 9 other regional winners for a chance at an additional $10,000. The entrepreneur must be present to win.

Each region creates the rules for its respective competition. The Corridor one of 10 regions in Iowa hosting the DBGH contest. In this region, there are no age or industry restrictions; the Corridor works to create the next generation of successful entrepreneurs, with youth programs for all ages. Because of the Corridor’s involvement with youth entrepreneurship, the competition will be open to everyone.

Other rules include a 0-30 employee, for-profit, small business that must reside in one of the four Corridor counties: Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson or Emmet.

Entries can be uploaded to www.DreamBigGrowHere.combetween September 8-October 20. The voting will begin October 21 and will end November 4.
