Crown Clinics wins People's Choice Award

Sue Brugman, President of Crown Clinics, won the Dream Big Grow Here People’s Choice Award at EntreFEST in Iowa City last week. Hundreds of people gathered at the Englert Theatre to attend the statewide pitch-off event and to celebrate the spirit of entrepreneurship in Iowa.

Brugman won the Iowa Lakes Corridor regional Dream Big Grow Here competition in November of 2013 and went on to compete at the statewide level. Lieutenant Governor Kim Reynolds presented Brugman with the award on May 15.

“We congratulate Sue on winning the People’s Choice Award and thank her for investing and starting this business in the Iowa lakes Corridor region,” said Kathy Evert, President and CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor. “She represented the region and competition very well in Iowa City. We will all continue to help and support this new business venture as much as possible.”

Dream Big Grow Here is a statewide business grant contest for entrepreneurs and small business owners to win $5,000 in order to help start or grow their Iowa business. Small business owners uploaded their hopes and dreams to DreamBigGrowHere.com and encouraged friends, customers and other businesses to vote for them. More than 180 companies competed throughout the state, totaling more than 100,000 online votes.

This was the third year of participation for the Iowa Lakes Corridor.
