Great Lakes Communication Corp. Unveils State-of-the-Art Data Center in Northwest Iowa

Great Lakes Communication Corp. (GLCC), will host a grand opening of their new data center on Highway 9 outside of Lake Park on August 21^st at 8:00 am on Thursday.  Governor Branstad will be in attendance and the public is invited to get a behind-the-scenes look at the structure and learn more about the company.  Coffee and doughnuts will be served.

Founded in 2005, GLCC is a family-owned competitive local exchange carrier (CLEC) that offers telecommunication services for conference call providers worldwide, along with voice and data services for enterprise customers and carriers.  GLCC, under its retail trade name IGL TeleConnect® also provides local telephone and wireless internet service to residents of Milford and Lake Park, and internet service to outlying Iowa Great Lakes areas that were previously underserved.   IGL TeleConnect® is currently constructing a new tower in Spirit Lake and will continue to expand its service zone over the coming years. 

The 2,500 square foot data center is structurally engineered to withstand F5 tornadic winds and extreme weather elements.  By using the latest in tiered designed standards, it offers a fully redundant solution to clients to offer the highest level of data safety.  All critical components will operate independently without affecting facility operation.   The facility will be securely monitored 24 /7 by remote video surveillance and access control products.  By utilizing advancements in free cooling technology, the facility maintains low costs and green operations.  GLCC staff can work with local area businesses to develop continuity and disaster recovery strategies for their off-site storage and hosting needs.
