Spencer Area Jobs Trust Internships come to a close

Spencer-area college students recently finished up their summer internships through the Spencer Area Jobs Trust Internship program. Erik Forslund, Nicholas O’Brien, Cara Vale and Jordan Stief all participated in the internship program this summer. Participating companies included: Carey’s Electronics, Crown Clinics, LLC, Northwest Bank and Sackett Law Firm.
Interns participated in an extensive application and interview process. Once accepted into the program, interns were thoroughly involved in the companies during a 14 week period. Internship duties required independent judgment, creativity, and intelligence to complete and contribute to the business’s goals or processes. Interns were required to work a minimum of 30 hours per week.
“Spencer Jobs Trust is happy to sponsor the internship program again this year, “Jobs Trust Chairman Clark Cunningham said. “We hope these four consider Spencer when deciding where to begin their careers after college graduation. The Spencer Area Jobs Trust thanks the participating employers, as well as the Iowa Lakes Corridor, for supporting this program.”
The Spencer Area Jobs Trust provides support and financial resources for student internships to assist existing employers find workers with the right skills, to introduce new young people or retain existing young people in the region. The purpose of the program is to connect talented students with existing employers in the Spencer, Iowa area. The program is for students within two years of graduation at any college or university, including community colleges. The goal is to provide a substantial learning experience for the students and to help employers recruit and retain skilled workers.
