News Release

In support of Public Service Recognition Week May 3-9, 2015, the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation is seeking nominations for the inaugural Public Champion of Economic Development Award.

Corridor investors and the public are invited to nominate elected city or county officials from Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet Counties for this award, which recognizes the critical role government leaders play in economic development. One city and one county official will be honored.

“Northwest Iowa is fortunate to have strong, talented and committed public officials working on behalf of area businesses every day,” said Steve Pick, Chairman of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation Board of Directors. “Their efforts make local economic development possible.”

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation Board of Directors will select the winners of the Public Champion of Economic Development Award from among the list of nominees. Preference will go to nominees for which there are specific examples of economic development success. Winners will receive a plaque from the development corporation presented at a public meeting of the relevant city council or board of supervisors.

To nominate a person for the Public Champion of Economic Development Award, please send an email to Kiley Miller, President & CEO of the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (kmiller@lakescorridor.com). The email should include the nominee’s name and position, a brief explanation of his or her contributions to growing the local economy, and the name and contact information for the person making the nomination. An application can also be downloaded at the Corridor Event Calendar. Visitors to the site should click on “Events Calendar” and then select “April 1” from the drop down calendar.

The deadline for submission is April 1, 2015.
