Back to School: Why Iowa’s education system matters for business

Looking for an educated workforce? There’s something Iowa does better than any other state—graduate our students. More than 90 percent of Iowa high school students graduate each year. That’s the highest percentage in the country.
Our students also score well on standardized tests. In 2015, Iowans had the second highest average score on the ACT.* In addition, the state of Iowa has made STEM education a priority, with STEM programs already reaching more than 100,000 K-12 students. Our universities are also STEM oriented – Iowa ranks 5th among all states in STEM degrees earned per 1,000 residents.
