Representatives of the Iowa Great Lakes Area tourism industry had the opportunity to express their wants and needs with several state agencies last week.
The Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs held a "drop-in" meeting Wednesday, Oct. 5, at the Pearson Lakes Art Center. Officials from the Iowa Arts Council, Iowa State Historical Society, Iowa Tourism Office, USDA, Iowa Department of Natural Resources and Iowa Economic Development attended.
The event was modeled after Gov. Terry Branstad's Capitol for a Day program. Michael Morain, a spokesman for the Iowa Department of Cultural Affairs, said it was designed to allow state agencies to learn about projects in local areas around Iowa and about how the state can help build those projects.
