Getting wind of Iowa

5 Dec 2016

Think wind turbines are a fad? Not in Iowa. In the state, over 6,000 jobs, along with 25 percent of the energy, are produced by wind turbines.

One example is the farm at Iowa Lakes Community College. It has its own wind turbine setup, with a goal to show how workable the distributed wind power model is. The school just recently upgraded to three-bladed turbines.

The college offers a Wind Energy and Turbine Technology Program, one of just seven nationwide to get the official Seal of Approval from the American Wind Energy Association. (For more information, see here: http://ow.ly/jUMe303F7qF.)
