Over 20 adult 4-H Volunteer Leaders were recognized for dedicated service to the 4-H program in Buena Vista County at the annual Buena Vista County 4-H Awards Program held Sunday, November 6.
Honored as the Buena Vista County 4-H Adult Volunteers of the Year were Doug White and Matt McCarthy. “Without these two individuals the 2016 Special Swine project would not have been possible. Each bring significant talents and resources to 4-H and both believe fully in the importance of educating our youth about the crucial role of agriculture. First, Doug White has served as our Swine Superintendent and Special Swine educator. Doug makes this project area fun for 4-H members while helping them learn the inside story of efficiently raising production swine. Second, Matt McCarthy has been a strong supporter of the BV County 4-H program through his leadership role with the Iowa Pork Producers. This year when need arose, he generously partnered with Mashoff to ensure 4-H members had livestock to show for the Special Swine project at the Buena Vista County Fair,” shared 4-H Youth Educator Nichol Kleespies.
