Incentives = more businesses

23 Jan 2017

You hear how corporations want to be in major urban areas, And it’s true that far more companies start in or move to population centers because of perceived advantages.

But rural parts of the Midwest like the Iowa Lakes Corridor region are using tax and loan incentives and workforce training to reverse the trend. Companies are strongly attracted by the area’s property tax exemptions and tax-increment financing. A wide range of loans is available, including interest-free, low-interest and forgivable.

The incentives are a collaborative effort of counties, towns, utilities and other organizations. The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation has a list of incentives here: http://ow.ly/Mryi303Fka7.
