Top-10 rankings in health care, education, opportunity and government led U.S. News & World Report to rank Iowa the No. 6 best state in the country.
Iowa is No. 5 in healthcare, No. 6 in opportunity, No. 8 in education and No. 10 in government, according to the rankings.
Iowa's healthcare rating was boosted by being the top-ranked state in health care affordability and No. 5 in health insurance enrollment.
Affordability contributed to the state's high opportunity ranking. Iowa is No. 3 in housing affordability and No. 12 in cost of living. Iowa also is No. 6 in low food insecurity and No. 6 in the Gini Index, a measure of wealth distribution.
In education, Iowa has the nation's best high school graduation rate and is No. 3 in four-year college graduation rate.
A No. 1 government credit rating and No. 10 ranking on budget transparency contributed to Iowa's No. 10 government ranking
