NEW REPORT: CREATING A PIPELINE OF SKILLED WORKERS IN IOWA
21 Mar 2017
The number of Iowa high school students who took science, technology, engineering or math (STEM) related Advanced Placement (AP) tests increased 22 percent from 2012 to 2015. That’s one of several promising stats for Iowa businesses from the newly released 2015-2016 Iowa STEM Evaluation Report.
In addition to that increase, here are some more positive findings for Iowa businesses:
Since 2011-2012, the number of Iowa teachers with at least one STEM-related teaching endorsement has increased 21 percent.
From 2009-2010 to 2010-2011, the number of Iowa students enrolled in high school engineering courses increased by 20 percent and since 2011-2012, that number has increased by another eight percent.
Average math scores for fourth, eighth and eleventh grade Iowa students are up in the latest period studied.
