Have you ever noticed that being around a body of water can help you feel calmer? There's a whole body of research suggesting water brings on "Blue Mind," a meditative state of peacefulness.
If that’s true, Dickinson County, in northwestern Iowa must be one of the most laid-back regions of the state. It’s home to the Iowa Great Lakes, which span 12,700 acres and 70 miles of shoreline. Five of the lakes are connected, making it a blissful place to go boating and sailing.
Okoboji’s first yacht club was organized in 1877. The present-day Okoboji Yacht Club has about 500 members and 65 registered sailboats as well as a sailing school and regular races.
