Area employers are sending a clear message: “We’re hiring!”

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation will help share this good news during the Clay County Fair, Sept. 9-17, at the Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub in the new Centennial Plaza, formerly the site of the Ag Building.

In addition to learning about area job opportunities, fairgoers who visit the Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub can test their skill in operating a variety of construction vehicles and other heavy machinery. The simulator is free.

“Our goal is to give fairgoers a hands-on experience using equipment simulators, showcase great businesses, explore career and education opportunities and discover the quality of life we all enjoy living in Northwest Iowa,” said Joanne Follon, Corridor Business Retention and Workforce Partnership Coordinator. “We invite everyone to stop by the Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub and explore all that our region has to offer."

While jobs and employers are the primary focus, the Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub, will also inform visitors of our area’s high quality of life that features award-winning schools, safe communities and excellent outdoor recreation activities.

Hub visitors will be able to visit getalakeslife.com and sign up to learn more about our region’s recreational resources, including our lakes, bike trails, golf courses, fishing, hunting and a lot more. While signing up online, people can include their job interests to receive career information.

“As part of the Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub, we’ll be encouraging folks who are visiting our area for the Clay County Fair to ‘Get a Lakes Life,’” Corridor President and CEO Kiley Miller said. “Our region and our neighbors in Northwest Iowa are committed to population growth. The Corridor strongly believes that when we show people what it means to ‘Get a Lakes Life,’ they will be drawn in and consider our region as a place they could call home.”

The Northwest Iowa Opportunities Hub is presented in partnership by the Iowa Lakes Corridor, Iowa Lakes Community College and IowaWORKS.
