Spencer Area Jobs Trust reimburses companies for providing internships

The Spencer Area Jobs Trust recently reimbursed six employers for a portion of internship wages earned over the summer.
The wages were reimbursed through the organization’s Internship Program, which provides support and financial resources to help existing employers find workers with the right skills, introduce new young professionals to the region and retain young professionals currently living in the region.
Businesses participating this year were Crown Clinics LLC; Midwestern Mechanical, Inc.; Montgomery, Barry, Bovee, Steffen and Davis; Spencer Radio Group; Veridian Limited and Williams and Company.
In total, six interns working at those businesses earned $36,498 this past summer. Under the Internship Program, the Spencer Area Jobs Trust issued reimbursement checks worth a total of $14,853 to the employers.
Internships qualifying for the program must provide a substantive experience that has a positive impact on the intern’s skills, knowledge and abilities. Job duties must contribute to the businesses’ goals or processes.
Spencer Area Jobs Trust is an organization of representatives from Spencer area businesses and the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation.
