Kailye Hromatko is the Wealth Management Intern at Bank Midwest for the summer. After applying for a general internship at Bank Midwest, they decided to place her in the wealth management position, likely due to the Applied Math and Business Management degrees she is earning at Grand View University in Des Moines. Hromatko is originally from Milford and graduated from Okoboji High School in 2016, so the internship at Bank Midwest’s Okoboji branch was a perfect fit.
In her role, Hromatko is helping the bank transition into its new system, saying “I do a lot of updating and uploading information into the new system that they switched over to this year.” She has attended a couple trainings; one of which was about how to converse successfully with people and, also, how to approach and have conversations that may be difficult. “Another training was People Skills, where we learned about our personality and other people’s personalities.” Hromatko has attended these sessions as well as the Iowa Bankers Association in Des Moines with the 6 other interns who are part of the Bank Midwest Internship Program at the bank’s other branches.
Hromatko enjoys the work she is doing and thinks it will benefit her in the future, “It is a lot of detail-oriented work, so it will help my ability to really focus and pay attention to the little things moving forward.” She also appreciates the freedom and trust that she has been granted by Bank Midwest. “I get to be independent and trusted to do my job while still getting to work with the other people on my team.” When asked of her dream job, her answer was simple: “I’d like to have a job where I enjoy what I’m doing, enjoy the people I’m with, and can be successful.”
