Iowa Lakes Corridor announces resignation of Chief Executive Officer

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) today announced that President & Chief Executive Officer Kiley Miller is resigning from the organization effective in February 2021.

“We thank Kiley for six great years leading the Corridor,” said Debra Satern, Chair of the Corridor Board of Directors. “His energy, knowledge and creativity have helped bring about significant economic growth in the region and prepared our organization for continued success in the years ahead.”

The Corridor provides professional economic development services for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, and Emmet counties. Miller joined the organization in August 2014. He is leaving to become Executive Director of the nonprofit Trees Forever in Marion, Iowa.

“There are literally too many people and too many organizations to thank,” Miller said. “From my first day on the job, I’ve been awed by the spirit of collaboration and community pride that permeates this region. It made the job easy and fun.”

During Miller’s tenure, the Corridor supported more than 40 business recruitment and expansion projects, more than 190 entrepreneurs and start-up businesses, and the construction of more than 200 housing units. The organization also launched multiple new initiatives to answer the region’s worker shortage, support entrepreneurs and business executives, and help local towns become more competitive in attracting and retaining businesses and families.

Satern said the board of directors has already begun planning for a leadership change.

“The board will develop and execute a solid transition plan,” Satern said. “In the interim, the staff at the Corridor is very experienced and has the expertise to maintain our innovative, results-driven economic development programs in business retention and expansion, entrepreneurship, community improvement, and workforce and housing.”
