Iowa Lakes Corridor announces appointment of Interim CEO
The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) announced today the appointment of Brian Dalziel to the position of Interim CEO effective February 2021.
The Corridor provides professional economic development services for Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet counties. Dalziel has been the Senior Vice President and Entrepreneur-in-Residence for the Corridor for over ten years. His appointment comes following the announcement of current President and CEO Kiley Miller’s departure from the Corridor.
“Dalziel has a strong record of organizational leadership and extensive experience working in the nonprofit economic development arena,” said Debra Satern, Chair of the Corridor Board of Directors. “The board is confident in his ability to guide the Corridor team through this transition and lead the organization on this path forward.”
During his time at the Corridor, Dalziel has served 257 entrepreneurial clients, assisting the start of 104 companies from scratch. He has led many Corridor programs including Prepare to Launch, Get A Lakes Life, Startup Skillup and Match-Learn-Launch.
"I am committed to working closely with our Chair Deb Satern and our Board to continue to drive results on behalf of our investors and the communities we serve,” said Brian Dalziel, Interim President and CEO. “We continue to believe the Corridor has a solid foundation from which to grow, with valuable service offerings and talented team members that work closely with our industrial partners. To best position our Corridor region for growth, my immediate priority will be to identify opportunities to facilitate manufacturing and technology clusters, particularly those driving innovation in ag tech."
Dalziel lives with Karen, his wife of 31 years, in Spirit Lake. They have two adult children. His professional experience includes founding three start-up technology companies and growing each from concept to market leadership; founding a non-profit business accelerator to serve entrepreneurs; founding a regional angel capital investment and mentor network; and winning the John Pappajohn Entrepreneurial Center business plan competition.
The Corridor Board has begun the recruitment process for a permanent CEO. Outgoing CEO Kiley Miller will provide support for ongoing industrial attraction and expansion projects for a period following his departure.
“Our stakeholders will not see any reduction in the scope or quality of services,” Satern said. “The Corridor will continue to execute results-driven economic development programs during this transition.”
