Iowa Lakes Corridor to host presentation on workforce
The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) is hosting Dr. Ronald A. Cox to present The Iowa Workforce Skirmishes at the Clay County Regional Events Center at 10 a.m. on Thursday, December 16th.
The Iowa Workforce Skirmishes touches on the workforce issues in Iowa based on research conducted over the past few years by the Center for Industrial Research and Service (CIRAS) at Iowa State University (ISU). The presentation discusses workforce from 1950 until today to explain the various causes of the current workforce shortages. It will also highlight a new approach to looking at workforce and end with a discussion of steps a company or community can take to help address their workforce needs.
Presenter Ron Cox leads CIRAS at ISU. He grew up in Dubuque and got a B.S. and Ph.D. in Aerospace Engineering from Iowa State University. His early career included work designing airfoils and fighter aircraft, teaching at the University of Oklahoma, and acting as a C-level executive for a manufacturer of cooling towers.
“The Iowa Lakes Corridor is excited to share the Iowa Workforce Innovation Network (iWIN) presentation with employers in our region,” said Corridor Business Retention and Workforce Partnership Coordinator Joanne Follon. “The presentation will give us a better understanding of today’s new workforce and ways to embrace a new approach in employing them.”
The Iowa Workforce Skirmishes is a public presentation. Those interested in attending the event should RSVP to Alyssa Petersen at 712-264-3474 or info@lakescorridor.com.
