Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute 2022

June 23-26 marked the 16th year of the Okoboji Entrepreneurial Institute. 25 college students from Buena Vista University, Iowa Lakes Community College, Iowa State University, University of Iowa and University of Northern Iowa joined us in the lakes region to learn about entrepreneurship, get mentorship and coaching on their business ventures and pitches, and see what life is like in the Lakes Region of Northwest Iowa.
Of these 25 students, 24 competed in a Business Pitch Competition. They gave their five-minute pitches in front of community members that coached them on their ideas and presentations, and then competed for monetary awards.
Students also heard from speakers including Tom Bedell, Bruce Tamisiea, Jill Harms, and Shennen Saltzman to learn about entrepreneurship, starting and running businesses, and giving back to the community.
