Responsibilities
GENERAL JOB SUMMARY: This is a full-time faculty position located on the Spencer Campus. The Program Coordinator is responsible for coordination of the Surgical Technologist program, including oversight of all aspects of curriculum and program structure, including lab space. The coordinator is responsible for teaching classes as defined by the College which includes classes taught face to face or over other virtual modalities. Must evaluate and report student performances and progress in courses in accordance with College and division policies and procedures. Must be able to obtain the appropriate licensure from the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. May require travel between campuses.
Qualifications
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
1) Possess a minimum of an Associate Degree; and
2) Have documented education or experience in instructional methodology, curriculum design and program planning; and
3) Be a graduate of an education program in surgical technology accredited by a nationally recognized programmatic accreditation agency; and
4) Possess a credential in the field of surgical technology through a national certification program that is accredited by the National Commission on Certifying Agencies (NCCA); and
5) Have a minimum of three years of experience in the operating room scrub role and an additional two years as either an instructor in surgical technology or in the operating room scrub role (or a combination of both) for a total of five years, within the past ten years. One or more years of teaching experience with lecture/lab classroom preferred. Clinical supervision experience and experience in curriculum development and learning assessment preferred.
