Tom Nelson is the Vice President of Business Development for the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation. Before joining the Corridor, Nelson worked for Minnesota-based Community and Economic Development Associates (CEDA). He served as CEDA's contact with the Jackson Economic Development Office by acting as the Economic Development Coordinator. Nelson staffed the Jackson Economic Development Authority, the Jackson Economic Development Corporation, and the Jackson Business Development Committee. Nelson successfully administered numerous loan funds, created new programs for business development, oversaw the construction of multiple projects, negotiated incentive packages, and led a robust entrepreneur support program.
Nelson is a graduate of Bethel University where he studied Organizational Communications, Political Science, and Leadership Studies. He has been a Soldier in the Minnesota Army National Guard since 2013. Joining as an enlisted Soldier initially, he has since been commissioned as a Military Intelligence Officer. Nelson is a member of the American Legion, the Sons of the American Legion, and is the former director of the Minnesota American Legion Boy's State Program.
Nelson has deep roots in the Corridor Region and enjoys being a part of an extraordinary area. He is passionate about rural development and draws on his diverse experiences to aid in the Corridor's growth.
