Purpose
We recognize that our four-county region has educated many qualified individuals over the years who have gone on and furthered their education. Additionally, our local employers have many high-quality jobs available, with great pay and benefits, for those highly qualified individuals to pursue.
Our goal with this program is to do what we can to encourage these former students, and now recent college graduates, to consider coming back, making the Corridor their home, and filling the high-quality jobs available locally.
Homegrown Talent Initiative Award
Starting in 2025 the Iowa Lakes Corridor awarded two $6,000 grants to Taylor Krager and Callan Townsend. The grant winners are able to use the grant dollars for student loan debt repayment, mortgage payment reimbursement or childcare expense reimbursement over the next 4 years ($1,500 per year). See more about Callan and Taylor.
In 2026, after another successful HGTI Golf Tournament fundraiser, we are proud to announce we will be awarding four grants to one individual in each of the four counties we serve.

Thoughts on the Corridor
"After our initial (BRE) meeting, Joanne and I started discussing challenges that we were facing and warehouse space was at the top of our issues. She asked me if we had interest in taking a look at the Daily Reporter building as they were wanting to possibly downsize their location. Jo did all of the leg work in arranging a meeting between Doll’s and the Daily Reporter. She even was present the day that we looked at the facility. Basically, without Jo, we could of possibly never been told that a solution to our warehouse needs was 4 blocks away! Jo checked in several times throughout the process and was always asking if there was anything else she could help with. We are very happy with our purchase and the growth opportunities that this additional space will provide us. We can’t thank you enough!"
