Responsibilities
Physical Therapist Assistant Job Responsibility: Under the direction of the supervising physical therapist, the assistant restores patient's function, alleviates pain, and prevents disabilities by administering physical therapy.
Physical Therapist Assistant Job Duties:
- Helps patient accomplish treatment plan and accept therapeutic devices by administering manual exercises; instructing, encouraging, and assisting patients in performing physical activities.
- Administers physical therapy treatments by utilizing their skills as a physical therapist assistant from those learned in training to those acquired through lifelong learning.
- Reports to the physical therapist effects of physical therapy treatments by observing, and noting patient's progress; participates in the recommendations for adjustments and modifications.
- Participates in discharge planning by consulting with members of the patient’s family.
- Documents patient care services through electronic health record.
- Maintains patient confidence and protects company through the HIPAA law.
- Maintains safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
- Protects patients and employees by adhering to infection-control policies and protocols.
- Ensures operation of equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions; calling for repairs.
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishing personal networks; participating in professional societies.
- Participates with in-service training programs.
- Complies with federal, state, and local legal and professional requirements.
- Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
- Able to self-promote skills and talents to the public.
- Other duties as requested by clinic management within scope of professional license for the benefit of the team and company.
Qualifications
Physical Therapist Assistant Skills and Qualifications:
- Licensed as a Physical Therapist Assistant in Iowa under good standing
- Able to communicate with and motivate people
- Be dedicated to lifelong learning
- Desire to market and establish yourself as a medical professional in the community you work in
- Legal and Ethical Compliance
- Computer skills and comfort
- Ability to lift and support up to 100 lbs. on a rare occasion
