Laser Machine Operator
Responsibilities
About the Role
- Set up and operate CNC laser cutting machines to produce precise cuts on various sheet metal materials according to detailed blueprints and specifications
- Read and interpret technical drawings, blueprints, and GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) to ensure accurate fabrication
- Program CNC laser machines using specialized software to optimize cutting paths and efficiency
- Perform routine maintenance, calibration, and troubleshooting on laser equipment to maintain optimal performance
- Conduct quality inspections using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments to verify dimensions and tolerances
- Utilize hand tools and fabrication equipment
- Operate forklifts, cranes, or other material handling equipment safely for loading raw materials and finished products
- Support help to other production lines will be required.
- Perform routine cleaning and basic preventative maintenance of laser equipment and work areas.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED required
- Proven experience operating CNC laser cutting machines or similar CNC machinery such as CNC milling machines or CNC lathes
- Strong mechanical knowledge with the ability to troubleshoot mechanical or electrical issues on laser equipment
- Basic math skills for measurements and calculations related to machining tolerances
- Knowledge of tooling setup, sheet metal fabrication, and quality inspection procedures
- Comfortable operating a forklift
- Good communication skills and ability to work effectively in a team environment
- Reliable, punctual, and able to follow directions
