About the Role
The Buyer analyzes Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) reports and places purchase orders for needed materials to meet manufacturing requirements, while considering lean guidelines. Learn alongside our Senior Buyer with the opportunity to grow!
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
This list of duties and responsibilities is not inclusive and may be expanded to include other duties and responsibilities as management may deem necessary from time to time.
- Maintain inventory to support demand based on MRP reporting, in accordance with lean expectations; place purchase orders and monitor suppliers to ensure on time delivery of materials
- Coordinate outside vendor service requirements based on MRP reporting
- Communicate to other associates on product shortages; estimate time necessary to establish necessary inventory levels
- Maintain MRP system for vendor requirements; minimum and maximum orders, lead time requirements, primary vendors, and order points
- Build and maintain vendor relationships; strong communication skills must be upheld to confirm production/shipping schedules and monitor open purchase orders to ensure on-time delivery
- Negotiate pricing with vendors
- Process returns for defective materials and parts
- Assist in reconciling invoice and receiving transaction discrepancies

- Minimum of an Associate’s Degree in business or related field.
- Proficient in PC applications such as MS Word, Outlook,Excel, PowerPoint, and Access.
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest and percentages based on feet-to-pound conversions.
- Willingness to learn and work as a team.

Technical Skills:
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications: Word, Outlook, Excel, PowerPoint, Access
- Mathematical Skills: Ability to calculate: Discounts, Interest, Percentages, Feet-to-pound conversions
- Soft Skills: Willingness to learn, Strong team player, Strong communication skills (especially for vendor coordination and relationship building), Ability to negotiate pricing, Detail-oriented (for reconciling invoice/receiving discrepancies and maintaining accurate MRP data)
