Physical Requirements

Responsibilities
- Diagnose and repair outboard, inboard, and sterndrive engines.
- Perform routine maintenance, including oil changes, tune-ups, impeller replacement, fluid service, and manufacturer-recommended inspections.
- Troubleshoot marine electrical, ignition, fuel, cooling, steering, and control systems.
- Install and repair batteries, electronics, gauges, accessories, trolling motors, and other marine equipment.
- Perform boat rigging, engine installation, and accessory installation as assigned.
- Inspect and repair boat trailers, including bearings, brakes, wiring, lights, tires, and winches.
- Prepare boats for seasonal use, storage, winterization, and spring commissioning.
- Conduct water tests and operational inspections when necessary.
- Accurately document diagnostic findings, repairs performed, parts used, and labor time on work orders.
- Communicate additional repair needs and parts requirements to the service advisor or service manager.
- Follow manufacturer procedures, dealership standards, and applicable warranty requirements.
- Maintain an organized, clean, and safe work area.
- Must provide the necessary tools needed to perform duties as outlined.
- Assist with launching, loading, moving, and securing boats when needed.
- Complete repairs correctly and efficiently while meeting established productivity and quality standards.
- Participate in manufacturer training and continuing technical education.
- Perform other service department duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Previous marine, powersports, automotive, diesel, or small-engine repair experience is preferred.
- Marine manufacturer certifications are preferred but not required.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and diagnostic skills.
- Knowledge of 12-volt electrical systems and the ability to read wiring diagrams.
- Ability to use diagnostic software, testing equipment, hand tools, and power tools.
- Basic computer skills and the ability to complete electronic work orders.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to completing repairs correctly.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a service team.
- Good communication, organization, and time-management skills.
- Valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
- Ability to operate and maneuver boats safely is preferred.
- Willingness to complete additional training and manufacturer certification programs.
