CORRIDOR TO BE FEATURED IN “MY TOWN” DOCUMENTARY SERIES

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) is excited to announce participation in a new documentary series from The Brookshire Company (Brookshire) / Community Venture Network (CVN) called MY TOWN. The Corridor will be featured in one episode of the first season of the MY TOWN series set to release on YouTube and Facebook in late 2024.

Brookshire’s CVN initiative exists to help rural communities attract businesses to their towns. As part of CVN’s ongoing mission to advocate for rural America, Emmy award-winning (Rural By Choice) producer Cory Hepola joined the team to tell the stories of rural communities. MY TOWN will explore seven rural communities throughout the Midwest to identify opportunities and challenges of living and doing business in rural America.

The Corridor’s episode will feature winter activities and various individuals and stories that make the four-county region unique.

The MY TOWN docuseries promises to bring rural living to life in a unique and compelling way. Cory Hepola stated, “This is such an important story to tell. Right now, there’s an accepted narrative that rural America is dying and that’s simply not true. With MY TOWN we’ll show the world the opportunity, innovation and talented people who make our thriving rural communities beautiful.”

“The Corridor is extremely excited to partner with Cory Hepola and the Emmy award-winning team for the MY TOWN documentary series,” shared Corridor President and CEO Curt Strouth. “Our goal is to tell the real-life stories from those who are already invested in our region as well as the opportunities that are available with living in our rural communities. This project is also going to help launch some of the other high-level workforce recruitment strategies that we are working on here at the Corridor.”

The Corridor is the only community in Iowa to be featured. Other communities involved include Perham, Minnesota; Farmington, Minnesota; Chisholm, Minnesota; Willmar, Minnesota; Beaver Dam, Wisconsin; and Rugby, North Dakota. Filming will occur in the Corridor region in early February.
