The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) has announced the first annual Homegrown Talent Initiative Golf Tournament to be hosted Monday, August 5, 2024 at Spencer Municipal Golf Course.
The Homegrown Talent Initiative is a new program from the Corridor to encourage recent college graduates that grew up within the region to consider coming back, making the Corridor region their home, and filling the high-quality jobs available at local businesses. Beginning in the Spring of 2025, the Iowa Lakes Corridor will award multiple grants to individuals who graduated from a high school in Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson, or Emmet Counties and have decided to return to the Corridor’s four-county region to live and work in our local communities. Information for applications will be released this coming fall.
“We recognize that our four-county region has educated many qualified individuals over the years who have gone on and furthered their education,” said Corridor President & CEO Curt Strouth. “Additionally, our local employers have many high-quality jobs available with great pay and benefits for those individuals to pursue.”
The Corridor’s first annual Homegrown Talent Initiative Golf Tournament will raise funds to support these grant awards. There are many ways to get involved and support this program through registering a team to play in the tournament or becoming a sponsor for lunch, dinner, door prizes, or course holes.
“We look forward to hosting this first golf tournament as an event to support our Homegrown Talent Initiative,” shared Corridor Senior Vice President of Economic Development Trevor Smith. “As a local graduate who recently returned home, I am excited to incentivize others to do the same and support our local businesses in recruiting workforce.”
More information on the tournament will be announced soon. If you’re interested in signing up to participate or sponsor, contact the Corridor office at 712-264-3474.
