Iowa Lakes Corridor to celebrate Manufacturing Month through October

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) will be celebrating Manufacturing Month in the region throughout the month of October 2024.

Manufacturing Day is recognized on the first Friday each October. It is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association as a founding partner. It’s meant to inspire the next generation to start careers in manufacturing through a series of events scheduled in October each year. The Corridor organizes events and marketing throughout the month to promote the manufacturing sector within the region and celebrate the impact and reach the industry has.

“Manufacturing Month is a celebration of the many manufacturing companies that call our region home,” said Corridor President & CEO Curt Strouth. “The manufacturing sector is the largest industry in our four-county region, and we are thankful for the products, jobs, and investment these companies provide. It’s a great opportunity to recognize these employers and their workforce.”

The celebration will begin on Monday, September 30 as local mayors and county supervisors do a joint proclamation signing recognizing October as Manufacturing Month in their respective communities. Corridor staff has also organized a manufacturing tour in each of its four counties through the month:

  • Buena Vista County: Ranco Fertiservice on October 30th
  • Clay County: MWI Components on October 17th
  • Dickinson County: Polaris on October 9th
  • Emmet County: Art’s Way Manufacturing on October 2nd

According to the Iowa Lakes Corridor region 2022 Laborshed Analysis from Iowa Workforce Development, the manufacturing industry employs 17.1% of individuals in the Corridor’s Laborshed area. It is the largest industry in the Corridor region and exceeds the national average per Emsi’s 2021 Economic Overview Report. Manufacturing also accounts for highest amount of the region’s GDP at over $800 million.
