News, News Release, Press Release
The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) has announced the substantial completion of the Spencer Speculative Building located in the Spencer Technical Park South.
This milestone marks a successful collaboration among key regional partners, including the Iowa Lakes Corridor Future Fund, Corn Belt Power Cooperative, Iowa Lakes Electric Cooperative, Clay County, the City of Spencer, and Spencer Municipal Utilities. Additional support was provided by the Iowa Area Development Group (IADG) through the Rural Economic Development Loan & Grant (REDL&G) Program, which channels funding through local utilities to support rural development initiatives.
The Spencer Speculative Building is a 30,000 square foot designed for optimal adaptability being expandable, crushed concrete flooring, and an open floorplan. This allows the buyer to locate equipment, plumbing, and other mechanical infrastructure according to need. Construction was done by Henningsen Construction out of Spencer.
“This project was made possible through the strong collaboration between the county, city, local utilities, and our economic development partners,” said Curt Strouth, President & CEO of the Corridor. “The addition of this facility is a significant step forward in supporting new and expanding businesses in the Spencer community.”
The partners on the project will celebrate this substantial completion alongside the Spencer Chamber of Commerce Ambassadors with a ribbon cutting event at 9:30 a.m. on Tuesday, July 1, 2025. This event is open to media and the public.
