Iowa Lakes Corridor communities proclaim October as Manufacturing Month

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) was joined by County Supervisors and City Officials on October 2 to proclaim October 2025 as Manufacturing Month in their respective communities.

Last Thursday the Corridor hosted a proclamation signing to kick off Manufacturing Month in the Iowa Lakes Corridor Region. Several local mayors and county supervisors participated in the proclamation signing from across the region. October 2025 was proclaimed as Manufacturing Month in Buena Vista County, Clay County, Dickinson County, Emmet County, City of Alta, City of Estherville, City of Lake Park, City of Milford, City of Sioux Rapids, City of Spencer, City of Spirit Lake and City of Storm Lake.

Manufacturing Day is recognized on the first Friday each October. It is an initiative of The Manufacturing Institute with the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association as a founding partner. It’s meant to inspire the next generation to start careers in manufacturing through a series of events scheduled in October each year.

According to the Iowa Lakes Corridor region 2025 Laborshed Analysis from Iowa Workforce Development, the manufacturing industry employs 11.4% of individuals in the Corridor’s Laborshed area. It is the 3rd largest industry in the Corridor region, under Retail and Healthcare. In the state, Manufacturing is the largest industry, accounting for 17% of the GDP and contributing $35 billion annually to the state’s economy according to Iowa’s advanced manufacturing website.

“We appreciate the support of our communities in recognizing October as Manufacturing Month,” shared Corridor President & CEO Curt Strouth. “It is always a pleasure to get the region’s community leaders gathered together to support this important industry and recognize the benefits our manufacturers bring to Northwest Iowa.”

The Corridor is participating in Manufacturing Month through organized tours of manufacturing businesses, social media campaigns and educational news and events.
