Street Maintenance (Year-Round AND Seasonal Available)

Responsibilities

Perform Labor and Operate Equipment for the Street Division of the City of Spencer. Operates one or more types of heavy motor equipment; performs skilled labor tasks; does related work as required. The work in this class requires skill in using heavy motor equipment and constant attention to safety of operation in order to prevent accidents. Standard procedures are followed and work is inspected periodically for safety and efficiency in operation. The Street Maintenance position also performs skilled labor tasks such as finishing concrete and asphalt. Essential Duties include: Operate a snowplow, frontend loader, spreader, roller, tractor, auger truck or comparable equipment as assigned; Service and make minor repairs to equipment; Charge out materials to jobs; Cut brush and operate chain saw; Paint street barricades; Perform rough carpentry work; Mix cement; Finish cement with finishing machine or by trowel; Lay brick for man holes and catch basins; Build curbs with cement; Build forms for cement; Cut cast iron pipe and concrete tile; Repair park equipment such as swings, slides, and cabins; Stripe and mark streets, parking lots and curbs; Maintain street signs; Make and repair barricades and signs; Make stencils for use in street marking. Other duties as assigned.
