Iowa Lakes Corridor announces hiring of new President and CEO

The Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation (Corridor) today announced the hire of Curt Strouth as the new President and Chief Executive Officer for the regional economic development organization serving Buena Vista, Clay, Dickinson and Emmet Counties.

Strouth is currently the Community Development Director for the Sheldon Chamber and Development Corporation (SCDC). He graduated from Augustana University in 2001 and was the Community Activities Director for the City of Rock Valley from 2001-2012.

In his current role, Strouth has overseen a number of development projects including the construction of Crossroads Pavilion Event Center, Prairie Trail Village Multi-Family Housing Project, COOP Travel Plaza at the intersection on Highways 18 and 60, and numerous industrial expansion projects. He has also worked on workforce development initiatives such as the O’Brien County Career Day and financial scholarships to help recruit local workforce back to the area.

“We are excited to welcome Curt to the Iowa Lakes Corridor team,” said Corridor Past Board Chair Doug Benjamin. “He has a proven track record of successful projects and relationship building that will benefit our organization and ultimately the region.”

“I am extremely excited to join the Iowa Lakes Corridor Development Corporation,” shared Strouth. “I am looking forward to working with our highly-skilled Corridor staff as well as collaborating with our regional partners in an effort to foster future economic growth together.”

Strouth enjoys spending time with his wife Emily and their three children. He also spends a lot of time on the basketball court in the winters as a High School Basketball Referee and was awarded the 2022 National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) Boys Basketball Official of the Year.

Strouth will assume his responsibilities with the Corridor in August.
