The Place for...Okoboji Brewing Co.

Small Business, My Town, Spirit Lake
Okoboji Brewing Company started in Spirit Lake in 2011. They have grown from 10 taps to 20 taps in the last 13 years. Four of the taps are reserved for OBC’s own brews including a vanilla stout, a Scottish wheat heavy, a pale ale, and a coffee porter. In addition to a root beer on tap, the other taps have other Iowa-brewed options. Though they don’t have food for sale, patrons can bring in their own food, order in, or even order from Papa Murphy’s right next door and have OBC bake the made-to-order pizza for them.
“It’s a really nice area. I’m originally from Michigan, and it reminds me a little bit of that because of the lakes. My wife grew up here, and the people are very friendly. There’s a lot of activities going on.”
In addition to a cozy gathering space to hang out with friends and enjoy a beer, OBC also has a back room if you need a space to rent for a party, and also has a 7,500 square foot open outdoor space for events as well. They’ve hosted many different events from birthday parties to fundraisers.
“We want to be the place to go. We want to be a community center and gathering place.”
Check out OBC and some of their specials and events including half-priced flights on Mondays, occasional live music, and other special events. Keep an eye on OBC’s Facebook Page to stay up to date on what they’ve got going on!
